The Fighting Loons
I enjoy sports, and while I don’t need to see every game, whether on tv or live, it’s fun to experience a game once in a while. This evening I had the opportunity to see the Minnesota United FC play at their new Allianz Field in St. Paul. I went with the youth group I volunteer with at my church. It was fun to not only go with some familiar faces but to see my first live game at the new stadium. It was a nice space! It’s a unique looking space, it has comfy seats, though the rows are quite skinny. We had great seatings about 20 rows up…

You Can Find Me at Dispatch
Big news everyone. I got a job! I started today and although it was mostly HR orientation meetings it was great to be at work, and getting things done. So what is Dispatch? – you might ask. Well the simplest way to explain for me is a cross between a courier and Uber, or Uber for packages. It’s all about an app and the transport vehicles that make it all happen. It’s a two and a half-year-old startup in Bloomington, MN. I’ll be working as a Business Development Representative. That said, I’ll still be living in the Twin Cities metro for the foreseeable future. I am so happy for this…

Turbulence
We all face turbulence in our lives, whether we’re experiencing at the moment or not. After all, we live in a sinful world. The question is: do we treat God like white noise until there’s turbulence? I remind myself often that I am who I am, and where I am because of what God’s done in my life so far! It is only because of the challenges, blessings, up, and downs that I am the person I am today. The thing is joy is the inevitable result of living your life with God’s priorities. Joy isn’t about having a perfect life here on earth it’s about having joy in Christ…

Looking for Minnesota Resorts?
I want to high light my parent’s wonderful website in this post. They run MinnesotaResorts.com and have been running it since the late nineties when they both worked for my Grandparent’s resort. My Dad spent numerous years, between the time he spent after college, and then after they were married working for Cascade Lodge. It has become their way of still being involved in this great industry. They’ve talked to countless resort owners, improved the site over time, and made it more valuable to visitors through tons of research, additions, and in adding additional resorts over time. So if you’re looking for a great place to vacation in Minnesota head…

A Small Comunity with Room for Everyone
I got my college internship from being tagged in the comments sections of a Facebook post… and then interviewing and getting the job. It was an awesome summer and I loved nearly every minute. When I was on camp staff I heard that despite being larger than the camp I grew up going to they were still moderately small but the director mentioned that they’ve never turned a kid away over numbers, they’ve always made room, whether by making cabins out of two smaller rooms, or having one or two more campers in a cabin, they’ve made it work. So upon hearing that I got to talking with other senior…

Truly Family Camp
Other people: “So when have you met some of your extended family?” Me: Well, I had a blast counseling my 3rd cousin at Koronis Bible Camp, and hanging out with other extended family members there. Oh, and I love going to camp with my grandparents, I love visiting their cabin at camp while we’re all there. Oh, and my 2nd cousin has done a great job at directing, and my cousin once-removed is an awesome registrar…the list goes on! I grew up going to a small family camp nearly every year of my life. My family has been going for three generations to that camp, and I’ve loved every year.…

Do As the Locals Do
Back when I was in college my family took a trip to Milwaukee. It was a fun trip. We saw some new things, in a new place. The three main memories I have from this trip without looking at photos are a creamery tour, a brewery tour, and the Harley-Davidson tour/museum. If that doesn’t describe a trip to Wisconsin well I don’t know what does. I also realized as I typed this that we also went on the Pabst Mansion tour, and that was really cool as well. Clearly, this isn’t all of what Wisconsin in about, but it’s still an intrinsically important part of the state from what I…

The Windy City and the Gladers
Back in junior year of high school, my family took our first week-long spring break vacation. It was a trip to Chicago and it was really fun, if not a little cold too. We drive the 7-hour car ride on each end of the week. We stayed at a hotel outside the city. We experienced everything from famous cuisine to the transit system to great museums, and even top floor views. We went shopping on the miracle mile and found various unique versions of famous places like McDonald’s. During this trip, we took a day trip to Springfield and visited President Lincoln’s home and plot. It was an interesting place…

Ometepe and My Family
The summer after I graduated high school my family took a missions trip with others from our church to Nicaragua to help with kids after school program, among other things. This trip was a wonderful, and unique opportunity for our family. We enjoyed planning for and serving on this trip. From the beginning, this seemed like an intriguing opportunity because we would all get to try our hand at missions work together. During the trip, we helped serve with a missionary couple on the island of Ometepe. It was a beautiful place and we got to contribute with the rest of the team from our church in helping with the…

Gladers in Colorado
My Dad’s side of the family has had two big family reunions in my lifetime, one was back in the nineties – so I barely remember it, but it was in the town I lived in at the time but the other one was when I was about 13. I really enjoyed that one because it was in Colorado, so we made a vacation out of the experience, and got to have it with so many cousins! It was just my immediate family driving to and from Colorado, but we met up with everyone not only at a great resort near Rocky Mountain National Park, but we also saw my…
