Fun

Inherently Puzzling

I’ve tried an escape room before, it was huge, and quite hard, but my group and I enjoyed it, and I was excited about trying one again. They’re a challenge but one where you know there is, for the most part, a logical end.

So when my Dad decided he wanted to try one as a family for his birthday, I was excited if not slightly concerned: Would we get frustrated as a group being that I was the only one who had tried it before? Would we get stuck? We decided to try one called the Inheritance *see title*. We were solving puzzles in what felt like a dining room area of a house. We were on the search to solve puzzles to “earn” a made-up character’s inheritance.

It’s also fun because there’s a variety of elements and types of problems. from locks, to playing cards, to photos, to counting codes, to clocks and colors. I appreciate that it’s very different from solving a static 1000 piece puzzle or just playing with a rubrics cube.

In the end, we didn’t finish within the 60-minute timer, but the game room employee was kind enough to give us extra clues to allow us to finish all the puzzles after all. He even gave us a sneak peek of another puzzle room at the same location. So if you’re looking for a challenge, a fun time and a new kind of family game night try an escape experience.
