Digital First

I find a lot of value in the digital world, and although not everything I do or use is digital, for instance as I write this I’m listening to my record player…mostly because I just turned off my premium listening streaming service, in favor of saving money by listening to the free version for a little while.

Calendars are another thing that I know really only use digitally nowadays. I use to use planners in high school, but since my school used the Google program suite, I started using google calendar or “g-cal” and just kept with it. I love that I can easily share my schedule and events with family and others. Plus its always with me, in my pocket!

I also use sticky notes on my computer, a lot. In fact, it’s a little ridiculous; but I’d rather have them there and easy to copy and paste into other places than stuck around my desk, needing to be retyped and what not.

I also avoid printing things for family and friends, instead I usually just share documents on Google Drive. This means that I don’t have to even have a chain of emails back and forth with the person either in some cases.

Another digital first choice that more recently caught on for me was creating my lists almost exclusively in the reminders app in my phone, especially because I can tell the app to remind me about a task, and, again, it’s almost always with me then!

See if digital first could be valuable for you, whether it means less to carry and therefore lose, or it helps by avoiding printing or paper costs. I know there are other ways that I can do more digitally, but I’d also love to hear if you know of another great digital tool @katherineglader.
