Looking for your first place? Wondering if you should buy or rent? Here’s a guide:

    May 22, 2019 /

We all know people in both boats, some people jump right into apartment living, perhaps with roommates, others decide to purchase a home/condo and make it their own. While I’ve learned the benefits to both ways at different times, my goal is to buy a place as soon as possible. Let me fill you in on the whys, and which benefits each choice presents. That said, apartments, homes, and condos all have their distinct advantages. To help you make the decision that’s best for you, here’s a brief overview of the pros/cons for each option along with my own personal recommendation at the end. First, apartments. One of the biggest…

    Rainy Day

    May 21, 2019 /

Some of my favorite things to do on rainy days: Watch TV/movies – preferably something old, ideally Singin’ in the Rain Read – either a magazine or a book Head to the mall where I can still walk around, and potentially get shopping done Play a good board game with friends or family Learn something new on the internet Write Hope that there’s an indoor swing dance to go to that evening Try a puzzle, whether its a sudoku from the newspaper or something I found online Find something new to do when it’s raining. Whether or not it’s raining today where you live, know that every day has value…

    What Degree of Use?

    May 19, 2019 /

I’ve met many people with doctorates with great success, I’ve also met people who got a certificate from a tech school with great success, I also know people with a high school diploma alone that have had great success. The other day I met a person with a masters degree who was doing the same work next to me at a temp job. I’ve also heard of high school dropouts who run companies, the thing is I’ve honestly I’ve heard of people at all levels of education who own companies. So why do I say all of this? Well, sometimes it doesn’t matter the level of education you’ve achieved if…

    An Unexpected Toy

    May 18, 2019 /

I was born in the ’90s so I remember a time in my life without the influence of computers. But my sister and I started using computers in late elementary school, and during our last year of homeschool, our parents made my dad’s old computer, the “homeschool” computer. It’s where my sister and I would play computer games, learned to type, logged into our Webkinz accounts, and where we’d later log into our first social media account (Shoutlife, if you were curious). It was also at the desk where my mom often made homeschool lesson plans and graded our assignments. My sister and I didn’t have cell phones until about…

The Beauty in Goodbye’s and Hellos

    May 18, 2019 /

Saying goodbye can be beautiful in that it can mean a good end, a fond farewell, and a wish of a happy future for someone even if you’re not a part of it. I still cry at goodbyes in my life and in the movies, but it’s a good kind of cry. Goodbyes can be hard though. When you don’t know what’s next, when you don’t expect it or when it has to be in the middle of something and it isn’t as positive of a break. There’s still learning and value often in those moments, but that doesn’t make them easier. Saying hello is often exciting for me as…

    Following a Char(actor)

    May 17, 2019 /

See what I did there? 🙂 We all have our favorite characters on the big screen and small screen, and often if we enjoy it enough we look for the actor’s other work online Although it can sometimes be fun to follow your favorite actor or actress, I’ve learned that its often detrimental to like the actor(ress) more than the characters of theirs that you’ve actually enjoyed and have seen value in. I know there’s such a thing as being versatile as an actor, but I think this has its limits, you have to be a good judge of the material and people you’re dealing with. I’ve loved certain characters,…

when you get turned down for a role

    May 14, 2019 /

Understand that it’s their loss for what you could’ve brought to the company and your gain since you can learn from the experience, and learn more before your next role. It certainly doesn’t always feel like a good thing but if you can take positives from the experience, that’ll help you keep going and avoid losing steam in your search. Keep learning, and bettering yourself.

Is being the next “_____” helpful or harmful?

    May 12, 2019 /

You often hear of stars get compared to another from the past, or, people will say someone is the next generation’s so and so. While this may be an honor at sometimes, is it actually helpful or harmful to the person and or society involved? First the positives. Notoriety, if its someone you meant to be or are proud to be, having your name associated with theirs could arguably be great marketing and encourage any and/or all their fans to find you. Unfortunately, it could be detrimental to be directly associated with another person and potentially judged against them. It could mean less creative freedom as well. I think it’s…
