Following a Char(actor)

We all have our favorite characters on the big screen and small screen, and often if we enjoy it enough we look for the actor’s other work online Although it can sometimes be fun to follow your favorite actor or actress, I’ve learned that its often detrimental to like the actor(ress) more than the characters of theirs that you’ve actually enjoyed and have seen value in.

I know there’s such a thing as being versatile as an actor, but I think this has its limits, you have to be a good judge of the material and people you’re dealing with.

I’ve loved certain characters, and believe they’ve been played well by the actress, but often the actress takes their career in a different direction and films tacky comedies, or even a pseudo-horror series, and I find it off-putting.

There are certainly great exceptions to this scenario and I often enjoy it when I can catch up with an actor’s other works. Though sometimes that throws off a storyline for me, because I can only see the actor in one role, but that problem is probably on me.

But this all being said I think it’s better to fall “head over heels” for a character and the person you see on the screen, after all its the actor’s job to represent the character well and make them compelling and interesting.
