It’s Not My Cabin Part Two

No, there wasn’t a part one, I’m just at another cabin this weekend and it felt applicable.

I’m at my other cousin’s cabin this weekend, it’s very different but it’s still a lake and family, and honestly, those are the best parts, that and maybe the water skis.

My cousins and uncle did a great job skiing, they all slalomed. They’re all good at it, and it was fun to watch them! I got to learn from my cousin about some of the techniques to use for me to drop a ski, and still balance. We grew up together, being the same age and all so to be back at their cabin after at least a decade was a treat.

I think it was the fact that he learned to ski after having been a little daunted by it like I was that was part of what convinced me to finally try again. He’s a couple of months younger, so little me couldn’t let my “little cousin” pass me up so easily. Too late, he’s awesome at it, and a great encouragement, as I continue to learn (and not just about skiing) πŸ™‚

My accomplishment was that I finally dropped a ski and stayed up for more than ten seconds. Sure I whiped out, but I was up and even got out of the wake.

I’ll add that I also tried my aunt’s paddleboard today, and I had never used one before. It was fun to paddle a little around the lake. Maybe someday I’ll try it again. I was able to stand up on it pretty quickly, and I never even tipped, which was a pleasant surprise.

Praise God for the chance to hang out with family, and to find so much joy in a simple day at the lake. I had a grin on my face the whole time we were out in the boat. That said, I think I’m okay with the fact I don’t get to ski every weekend, among other activities I like that I get to do less often, it makes it more special when I do get to do them. Though I wouldn’t turn down more chances to ski and try new things and unique hobbies more often. Maybe someday my folks’ll get a boat, and we’ll go all the time, anything’s possible, right? πŸ˜‰

Thanks, Langlie family for a wonderful day at the lake.
