The Glader Family Motorcyclists
This post starts with me giving a quick lesson on the pronunciation of my last name. It’s Glader. As in Glad-er. As in I’m Glader than you. Or I’m happier than you. Now that that is clear, I’ll move on. I grew up Baptist (and I still am) and homeschooled (when I was little). We are Midwesterners, living in the suburbs. Not exactly the poster family for motorcycling but here we are. One of my grandpas have ridden, my Dad and mom do, my Dad’s brother and my aunt, my great aunt and uncle too, even some of my cousins now, as well as family friends ride. I don’t say…

Battle of the Burrito (Bowls)
I’ve loved Chipotle since sometime in high school, in college, I was introduced to Qdoba, and about 2 weeks ago my sister and I went to Panchero’s for the first time, here’s my analysis. Chipotle, a crowd favorite, with tons of locations, and a menu you probably know by heart. I love how cheap it is, especially since I take their food to go so often. Qdoba the place to go for free extras and a great, distinct flavor. They have nicer restaurant’s than Chipotle. Panchero’s has an interesting niche. They stir the ingredients together before they hand you a finished product, plus they do have fresh tortillas but I…

Here’s To You
The dreamer. The optimist. The believer. Don’t stop thinking that way. Here’s to you. The one who is comfortable in their own skin, but doesn’t always know what that even looks like. Keep learning about yourself, your likes, your dislikes, your personality. Here’s to you. The one questioning where they’re supposed to be but still going at life with their all. Here’s to you. The one who is stuck in a predicament they don’t have control over. Keep doing what you can to make your circumstances work out. Make today, and ever day, great.

The Practice of Patience
Patience is something i’m working on right now. Patience doesn’t always mean waiting in line. Patience can also be about pursuing opportunities, and making different pieces fall into place. It can be about completing a process. It’s hard but I have gotten better at working through patience.

High Heels Are Like…
Some are classier than others some are taller than others, but even since getting taller I realized I kind of enjoy wearing high heels sometimes. I like dressing up for certain events and church, and its a fun way to literally and figuratively elevate a look. Today I realized how high heels relate to a Christian faith. Hear me out. The heels I own I’d like to think are pretty but after a few hours, they do tend to hurt my feet. I like how I can see more because they make me taller than others, but sometimes I let that get to my head, and I tend to be…

Tales Of a (College) Commuter
Did I mention I was a commuter in college? I made the most of it and I loved it. A friend in college once questioned my love for commuter life at college, saying “Katie (my nickname) I bet you really actually would like to live on campus.” What did I tell him?: “Yup, Rob (not his real name) I would, but I wouldn’t be able to attend here and live on campus, I’m thankful enough that I get to finish my degree here as it is. Rob was a commuter too, mind you. What seemed like every other person at college whether they live on campus or not I swear:…

Living with Razor Sharp Convictions
What a great weekend its been at District Blitz! From helpful seminars and rallies to great moments with students and leaders alike. This weekend and the students have taught me things. Leadership should be a life of good examples not just telling people what is good and bad. It should be about not only correcting mistakes when they happen but also avoiding them by the way you lead. I went to a great seminar about convictions and I loved that the speaker talked about how important it is to stand by your Bible based/fact based convictions, but how to approach others with them as well. You shouldn’t hurt people with…

Loved
I’m at District Blitz this weekend with the high school youth group I volunteer with. The theme this weekend is Real Jesus, and we’re talking about the love of Christ. God loves us no matter our circumstances, no matter our relationships, no matter our sin. I’ve mentioned God’s love before, I will again because it’s important. Love is about being honest with tact, being there for others. “Sin is fun but it will never fulfill.” – Zane Black It was cool to see Zane live as our youth group had watched a Dare 2 Share Ministries series called the Gospel Journey. This was a good challenge I believe, the quote…

The Business of Email
Social Media is important, but so is email; it can’t be too often, not too little, great content, helpful links, engaging ideas and titles, a lot goes into a good email. While working a contract role at a private k-12 in my area I learned how MailChimp worked. I used their templates but had to figure out how to edit in the up-to-date information each time (about weekly). I have also created a MailChimp account of my own to see what it looks like to try and brand an email from scratch, its an interesting and engaging process, thinking through every element and how you want to greet the receiver.…

Watching the Tube
Many high Schoolers admit it’s their favorite platform, but for many people, they go to YouTube more than they turn on regular old TV. Whether it’s to learn, for comedy, or just for entertainment, it’s a huge part of our culture today. I heard on the radio once that now one of the number one career choices kids have in mind as they grow up is to be a “YouTuber”. Whether or not you think that’s a legitimate choice or not it shows the importance and impact of this platform. For my apprenticeship program, I decided I wanted to combine marketing, education, and self improvement of my on camera skills…
