The “Not-Teacher” Who Taught
At one point during my elementary school years, I wanted to be a teacher, that idea soon fell away. It gave way to marketing, and even doctor for a really short time.
Come high school and college I told everybody I never wanted to teach. Now the tricky part was differentiating myself from those who
Fast forward and I’ve helped in youth ministry for over 4 years. I’ve had fun helping the students learn and better understand the material and sometimes even teach it as I’ve written about on my portfolio.
At the end of college I went to a young adult retreat, my friend and I got the chance to teach swing dancing to a friend of ours. It was a fun experience.
In addition, more recently, I got the chance to teach a Mom at my church about how to improve her business’s presence online, we both learned a lot that evening, but I was really happy for the chance to teach her what I knew.
Thinking about the future I hope I get the chance to teach. Not as a K-12 teacher, or professor by any means still, but hopefully as a speaker, say at camps, or at swing dances, or on Praxis or Bethel calls. I hope I can continue learning and embrace the idea of speaking in front of audiences more as I grow. I love the idea of sharing what I’ve learned to a crowd of kids or adults, about what God has done in my life. May whoever I speak to see Christ in me. #gladertospeak
