A Blank Canva

I have come to love design. Since middle of college when I started finding great tools, and teaching myself, and learning what I like.

Canva is one of the main tools I use for design.

I love the fact that there’s templates to use, but that I can do with them whatever I want. Usually I just get inspired by the templates and then rework them to make them my own. The templates show my what elements, and styling professionals have used that looks good so I can know I’m going in a great direction. Though I also enjoy starting some from scratch.

It goes back to the fact that I didn’t think I was creative growing up, I wasn’t a painter, I didn’t use modeling clay, I never owned a bedazzler either. What I didn’t know then was that I didn’t know my art forms yet! That being said, graphic design is only one of them, but I love it, and I love how I can communicate different ideas through design.

So what does this look like in action?

Have a look.

This was a postcard mock up where I designed both sides to create a cohesive message.

My favorite thing about the next example is how I repurposed the template for this one. It was a resume design, but I just multiplied a portion that I expecially liked and used it to create a “get-to-know-you” packet for the students I work with at my church. With this tool they’ll be able to connect with us more easily! (information redacted for privacy)
