Living Habits

I’ve lived in the suburbs of the Twin Cities for most of my life.

While I thoroughly enjoy being outdoors, whether it’s camping with friends, or, hiking with family, or playing outdoor sports, or sitting around at a local beach, I really enjoy indoor things as well. From movie nights at home, to shopping days with gal pals, to eating out downtown at a sit-down restaurant with my family.

I think there’s a balance to be found here. I don’t like being put into one category of being a city person or being an outdoorsy person. There’s value to be found in loving the suburbs, city-life, and time outdoors in nature. Being a Minnesotan I’ll admit its been relatively easy to try different things, we get all the seasons, we have a large city and tons of woods up north, and we have so many lakes. But I believe anyone can be creative enough to get a little outside their comfort zone.

So if you like walking around nature, try taking a walk down a famous city street next time you’re out, if you’re a big fan of the suburbs, take a day trip to a beach out of town, if one of your favorite things is shopping at the mall, I would challenge you to try walking through a outfitters shop out in the boonies, you just might find yourself inspired to try something different.

Now if you’ll excuse me, I’m going to go with my family to the Mall of America (or the mega mall as my family says) this afternoon, before we get on the ice tomorrow for a family game of hockey at my uncle’s house.
