How to Plan a Budget Conscious Wedding

a NON exhaustive guide My husband(!) and I recently got married and I read all the blogs, I listend to all the Podcasts, I watched all the videos about how to plan a wedding, both in general and on a budget. My biggest points of advice include venue advice, food, decor, and budget as a whole. The venue is what should probably nailed down first especially if you are not committed to a certain date yet. We got married at a church, and I loved that decision especially if you care at all about budget and if you’re a fellow believer, city park facilities are the next best option in…

    Week Nine at a Start-Up

“We’re like Uber for business to business deliveries.” This is one of the first things I mention on the phone, and often when people hear this they’re intrigued – as I was when I first heard about Dispatch. I really like working at Dispatch, the people are great, the culture is great, the product is great! So here are my thoughts from the first nine weeks. This is a non-exhaustive list mind you. Things I learned How to use Hubspot CRM How to use Zoominfo How to continue improving on my phone communication skills How to schedule out a normal work day Things I did for fun Went to the…

    The Business of Business

I watched a YouTube video today that was all about franchises, I also subscribe to Entrepreneur Magazine. It’s interesting to read the quick numbers of how much money a franchise owner spends to open their chosen establishment. Obviously, some are cheaper than others. It’s still an investment though, and I think it’s important to realize from an employee perspective. Even a humble Subway costs about an average of $200,000 but that number comes from a 10 second Google search so don’t hold me to that. What I’m getting at is that a lot goes into theses places, whether they always look like it or not. A lot of time, money,…

    It’s Not Free

I just read something from someone I follow that read that anything that’s required to live should be free. There’s so much more wrong with that than I want to cover, or can cover in this blog post, but hear me loud and clear, it can’t be free because it costs something to produce. Unless you go to a public park and drink from the stream, or have food that grows or is raised on your own land. It can’t be free. Someone had to produce the food you buy, the place you live, and the clothes you wear, and they deserve to be paid for that. In a functioning…

A State of Mind that is Helpful

I’ve read that “poor is a mindset, broke is a place you’re just passing through” – Dave Ramsey. I understand that not having much disposable income can totally be just a season, but I see value in having a “poor” mindset to keep you on track for your goals during a different kind of season. For me, I try to live frugally, now more than ever. I am always trying to be very aware of how much money I spend. Sometimes that means I have a “poor” mindset. What I mean by that is that I have to limit myself in this season of my life so I can get…

The Story of the Rich Young Ruler

This morning in Sunday school, we talked about the story of the rich young ruler, from the New Testament. It’s a tough thing to think about. America is amongst the riches of nations, therefore the people in it are pretty well off, especially in light of the rest of history, we live better, eat better, travel far easier, and in general, we’re far better off than anyone else. With that in mind, we have to think about how this story applies to our lives. In class, we did get the chance to talk about how some people who are rich bless others immensely, this is important to consider especially since…
