Beverage of Choice

I’m a millennial, at least from the research I’ve done. I grew up looking forward to the times my parents would let me have pop (some people call it a soft drink). I tried coffee in late high school and discovered that I liked it, and still do. I’ll even admit that I like the “fru-fru” drinks, but that’s a lot of caffeine and money so those are a once-in-a-great-while treat.

My parents, a baby-boomer and gen X-er, still like their pop though. Mostly classics like Coca-Cola, Dr. Pepper, and Mountain Dew. I’m personally not a huge fan of that sugary syrup anymore, but whatever floats their boats I guess. They don’t drink them very much so like me and my coffee, it’s a treat.

On the other hand, my whole family all loves milk, like a lot. We figure it’s more interesting than water, with far less sugar or caffeine than almost any other option, plus it has various health benefits as well.

My family more recently discovered kombucha and my sister and I really like it. My parents…not so much. I’d recommend at least trying this option if you’re trying to cut out pop and/or energy drinks. Plus kombucha’s still a fizzy, more flavorful than options like La Croix and good for your digestive system.

Try different beverages and weigh the positives and negatives, so that you can know what’s best for your budget, health and taste buds. Let me know if you know of another amazing option too @katherineglader
