Two Parts In
A Review of The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers
I just watched the second part of this trilogy with students from the youth group I work with. This one was better in my opinion than the first, but also slightly harder to follow, especially since the characters were in different places. I thought the Gollum character was kind of funny and the trees were kind of endearing, except when they both were kind of annoying.
Holy moly though, this one seemed scarier and more gruesome. I don’t know how much to say about this, but I definitely looked away at some parts.
This one was funnier overall too, I heard the students laughing more, as well as myself, though there weren’t as many famous lines.
This movie had less interesting settings though for the most part. no hobbit holes, less treacherous trail, more treacherous characters.
I will admit I have a lot of questions as well, I hoping that it’s not because I missed a few moments when I went to get food. That is, I hope they’ll be answered in the third movie, that or I’ll ask my students afterward, and let you know.
I’m a little conflicted about what to recommend here so like a good(?) cliff hanger: “stay tuned” for next week when I get the chance to watch the third one and see if this series is worth another view ever.
