Watching the Tube
Many high Schoolers admit it’s their favorite platform, but for many people, they go to YouTube more than they turn on regular old TV. Whether it’s to learn, for comedy, or just for entertainment, it’s a huge part of our culture today.
I heard on the radio once that now one of the number one career choices kids have in mind as they grow up is to be a “YouTuber”. Whether or not you think that’s a legitimate choice or not it shows the importance and impact of this platform.
For my apprenticeship program, I decided I wanted to combine marketing, education, and self improvement of my on camera skills and writing and create a series of videos for my personal YouTube channel. I taught myself how to edit within the program I had access to at the time (iMovie) and got to work filming editing and creating the graphics I needed. I put music in, stills, and had to decide how I wanted to label my videos and how I wanted to put together thumbnails.
YouTube is a great spot for businesses to put content if they want it to be engaged with or if they want a chance at consumers subscribing to their content on a platform many have practically grown up with. While their are other platforms with different values of their own YouTube is the most connected from what I’ve seen, especially because of its Google connection.
What I’ve included below are screenshots of my channel, the back end, and a peek at the editing process.
