The Mega Mall
In Minnesota we have a lot of cool outdoor spaces, but sometimes it gets too cold for even us Minnesota natives. So in the 90s, we built a mall with a couple of roller coasters in it, and an aquarium, and theatres – and called it the Mall of America, or MOA if you’re around here…or mega mall if you’re my family.
Since then it’s gained more roller coasters, a flying simulator, a go-kart racing track, a hotel, and umpteen stores.
I know what you’re thinking,
There’s a little more to it.
For those of us who aren’t from the south side of the Twin Cities it’s a bit of a treck and therefore a trip to the Mall of America tends to turn into an outing in and of itself.
Growing up my mom would take us about yearly, and we’d enjoy Cinnabon, or another unique restaurant, and make a day of it. We still take at least an annual trip around
Back in college I got the chance to go with a group of friends to the mall for late night rides, my school had rented the park for 4 hours and we rode whatever ride we wanted to. It was an evening to remember, and I had a ton of fun!
Yesterday, I went with my sister again, and we saw a Sanctus Real concert in the mall’s rotunda, there have been numerous shows here, but we had fun listening to songs that we enjoy on the radio. We also got the chance to look around, and try on some unique and fun hats.
Inside activities have their time and place, as do malls, from discovering cool new products, to spending time with friends, to having somewhere warm to hang out, don’t worry though, I spent this morning playing hockey outside.
