Eat for the Job You Want
You’ve probably heard it said that you should dress for the job you want, but I would argue that how you eat plays into whether you can accomplish this.
A nutritionist should be more acutely aware than anyone of what they’re eating and how it affects them, but an athlete has to eat far more calories than someone who mostly sits at a desk. A chef is more likely to try more unique foods than someone with various allergies. You may want to try other foods if you’re a travel blogger, or want to be one. An athlete has to eat far more calories, and then work out to burn off the intake, whereas someone like an accountant, is relying more on “brain food” instead of the calorie count. That said, anyone in any industry wants to look their best and a good diet heavily contributes to that.
Honestly, whatever you do, you should do your best to eat healthy.
Another element I want to touch on is the trickle-down effect. You see if you want to dress for the role you want you to have to eat right to fit into the right clothes. It also means, that you have to be concerned about how those foods affect you, from how caffeine and sugar can leave you tired after the energy rush, to how some foods are more likely to cause breakouts than others, to considering healthy portions for your build, to eating the right kinds of foods to stay healthy overall, and avoid stomach aches and the like.
So with the new year, beyond thinking about just “going on a diet” think about the changes you need to make to meet your own goals and standards. It certainly doesn’t end with diet choices either, its about lifestyle choices.
