Coffee Drinker*

*Coffee is a wonderful drink best served with friends or to try a new flavor, not as much (in my case) for the energy it may bring. It also shouldn’t be an addiction.

I enjoy coffee quite a bit, but I’ll be the first to admit I have quite a bit of energy already on the regular. Sometimes decaf is a solution but often times it’s not as good of a flavor, isn’t available, or a drink can’t be made with that kind of coffee. Coffee is more of an experience to me, not that it’s about how fancy the brew, its more about enjoying it with friends, family, or even new acquaintances, coffee often brings people together and is something that can have different flavors depending on where you are or whos making it.

I’m also not a consistent coffee drinker because it can be expensive, and I don’t want it to become a bad habit or something that I need in order to be able to function. That said I would encourage others to be careful with how it could consume their budget or life. I don’t like the cheesy phrases that say all you need is Jesus and coffee, I think that phrase unfairly diminishes Jesus, and how He is supposed to be and deserves to be all we need. I don’t think this is the intention, but the phrase has always rubbed me wrong. I think coffee could be bad like any other addiction; food, drink or otherwise.

So here’s to enjoying new brews with friends, and praising Jesus because He’s all we truly need in life.
