Left Out

Unless you’re ridiculously popular we’ve all been left out of something, whether intentionally or unintentionally. It’s hard. If you want to be a part of something and didn’t even get the chance to be.

Social media makes this harder, I would argue. We are able to see every update that anyone we follow posts, whether it’s their lunch, homework, or a fabulous party, or a group of friends they had over for game night. I can’t imagine having social media any earlier in life. I would’ve been so frustrated with every other kid’s fun posts that I didn’t get to be a part of. Though honestly, it can be hard when you get older too, you wonder how you and a friend grew apart and how to of your past friends became good friends.

I’m not exactly talking about the fear of missing out either. That’s more about what each individual chooses, that means you have the invite in hand, I would argue, and you’re deciding whether or not to stay in. You’ve gotten the invite, there’s no worries about your status as far as that goes.

If you’re ever left out think about having some closer friends over for a party, and feel free to post it. Don’t be vindictive, just send the invite out to those you care about and do something of your own choice, you’ll probably have more fun anyway.
