    Four States

Three months Two phones. One me. That’s what my life has been lately. It’s been an adventure I never could’ve expected but it’s definitely been a challenge. I love travel but I also realize how much of a process it is, from the driving to the waiting for planes, to paying more for everything when you travel. As I arrive in Lincoln, NE for my latest visit here’s some takeaways concerning my thoughts on how to best plan for a roadtrip. Since I’ve already talked about plane trips specifically. Pack food. Easy stuff, like chips, fruit, veggies, fill in the gaps with entrees at cheaper places. Fill up the gas…

    Sunday School

I grew up going to Sunday school at church, literally from birth. I still go but now my class is full of adults. I still love it though, small group lessons, with people that I can fellowship with after class and then head to the service hour with. What’s unfortunate is that I don’t think many churches do this anymore. Between researching other churches and attending them sporadically to see what they’re all about I found in interesting to see that although there are churches with great services, and well run small group ministries, there’s not as much adult fellowship on Sundays in some cases because there’s not really any…

    Seemingly Impossible

Sometimes there’s practical solutions to seemingly impossible things. I’m a fan of Disney movies, and it seems like so many of them have a character that suggests doing the impossible, I thought this was cheesy until I recently realized there’s sometimes practical cases of accomplishing the seemingly impossible, plus there’s even a Bible verse about it (just be aware of the context). You see using a different perspective could be all it takes to solve a problem or searching for a solution where you didn’t expect it. It kind of boils down to doing a bit of problem solving, but doing the impossible sounds like more fun.

It’s Not Yours, but You Need to Be a Good Steward of it

In church, on Sunday the pastor spoke on rethinking how we see our lives He was mostly talking about how our lives are not our own, they belong to God. Everything from our livlihoods, or possessions, even our bodies and what we do with every resource God has entrusted us with in the end, belong to Him. That being said God has entrusted us with everything he has given us from our bank accounts to our jobs, we need to do our best, most honest work in order to be good stewards. We need to pursue God and trust the direction he has in our lives, even when it’s not…

    How Fitting

People working together are often like puzzle pieces, they all look different, but somehow it all fits, I won’t take the analogy far but it’s interesting to think about. I might have different opinions than someone else, but if we can find the way we work together we can be part of crafting a beautiful puzzle…er, world.

    Looks Like Church

I tried a new church today. The first thing I noticed was I suddenly realized that the one I decided on this morning was one of the places that had all the people my age that aren’t at my home church. That and I’d never driven downtown on a Sunday morning to my memory. Neither of these things were bad, in fact it made for a new and fresh experience. Although it was ridiculously different, it was quite nice. First off it was in a rented space, an event center that is. We sat in chairs like I’ve seen at fancy weddings instead of pews. Secondly, there were like 4…

    Don’t Be a Vibe Destoryer

My suspicion is that this character comes up in various circles. This is the person who comes to things and brings everyone down, whether it’s by not participating, and or taking others away from the enjoyment of the get together, or complains about their energy and their time all. the. time. Obviously, everyone has off days, but don’t let it be part of your expressed personality and attitude. On those off days, take some time for yourself, or some time with a trusted friend or family member. Obviously everyone goes through hard times and I am in no way suggesting you should just plow through them, but find an appropriate…

    I’ve Got a Question

Ask lots of questions. Why wouldn’t you? People can say no anyway, that or you’ll get an answer and learn something new. Obviously you should be tackful and considerate of your questions, but if your question falls in line with these two metrics it should be fine. I asked a lot of questions in school and growing up in general. From trying to better understand lessons, to trying to better understand the world around me. I see the value in asking questions of others not only to learn more myself but also to encourage them and myself to think more about the issue at hand.

    Something Wonderful

…is coming. As I patiently keep on working on finding an apprenticeship, I feel like I just know that something wonderful is in the works. I am so happy to be thinking about what the soon to come future will bring. What will my apprenticeship actually be like, what will my new living space be like, will I miss not seeing Minnesota out the window? I have prayed over this whole situation so much. I’m excited, to God be the glory.

    Talent and Opportunity

I’ve always wondered what i could be good at that I haven’t tried yet. Am I a great surfer, that hasn’t taken the time or had the chance to try? Someday we’ll see. Is the kid who lives on the beach and struggles to swim actually a terrific artist, and/or hockey player? Is the adult who has lived in the city their whole life actually a stellar equestrian? Who knows, and maybe there’s evidence against my theory, but what if. Ideally everyone would have the chance to try new things, but this just isn’t how it is. Nor am I suggesting that it should be required that everyone gets a…
