This is a rewrite of an essay I wrote back in middle school for a standardized test. Unfortunately, I never saw it again after I submitted it, but the idea has stayed with me. Many young North American girls grew up with the story of Anne of Green Gables. It’s old, it’s bulky, and sometimes it’s been damaged a bit. It’s still wonderful. It’s the VCR, and it’s accompanying VHS tapes. My family still owns over a hundred of these, and I have at least 50 of my own. It may seem like a goofy collection but to my sister and me especially, it’s fantastic. I love watching movies that we loved growing up and rediscovering some at the thrift store to add to our collection.
