The Value in the Original

I’ve been looking around Instagram quite a bit lately, it’s partially just for fun, partially research, I’m trying to figure out what makes people like/follow an account. Originality has value across the board.

There is a ton of editing that goes into Instagram, there’s almost nothing Instant about it, honestly. Is editing fun, pretty, and eye-catching, yes. Is editing also somewhat misleading, untruthful, and fake, also, yes. I do it myself, It makes a feed look nicer and makes for a better image overall.

The thing is, I think we need to find more value in the original, especially when it’s about God’s creation. God called his creation good from the very beginning.

This is also a challenge for people to see things for themselves, even if you’ve seen something in a movie, or seen a picture, go find it for yourself, go see the original.

There’s also value to be found in originality in other areas of life too, take content, or products for instance, its often far better to buy the ligitamate product over the knockoff. Sometimes knockoffs are helpful, but the reason there’s a knock off is because the original was arguably worth repeating. The designer had to come up with everything from the color, to silloette, and decide on what kind of fabric/materials to use.

Take are for instance as well, you’d rather have a real Monet or Rembrandt than a copycat. The first artist had to find the right colors, proportions, and design, they had to decide what to paint even.

This isn’t to hate on the talented people who beautifully edit photos or the makeup artists who create flawless looks. I simply want to acknowledge the good to be found in the un-retouched, and uncopied as well. See the value in the original, and happy editing.

Also, I’m not a huge fan of remakes… unless its people recreating old family/friend’s photos because those are absolutely hilarious.
