The Perks of Social Media
I’ve mentioned before that I appreciate somethings about social media, not that it doesn’t have drawbacks, but it has merits as well. Let me explain.
First, you can connect with far away friends. You can see what they’re up to in their daily lives, and connect with the then and there. You also aren’t as likely to lose contact with a friend either because you’re already connecting, I mean people change their names on social but you stay friends!
I also enjoy the memories feature that some social apps nowadays have. Looking back at the years and see the reactions, the well wishes, the disappointments.
There are also tons of events that are publicized on Facebook. Namely, swing dances, I often just generally search for them and then share them on messenger with friends.
This last one applies more to YouTube, but there are definitely things to learn from other platforms as well. Learning online can look like learning how to not communicate with others, how to share ideas in helpful ways, and learning about anything you can search really. I’ve taught myself how to program a garage door opener via YouTube videos, for instance, I’ve also made my own educational videos on YouTube
Don’t abuse social media (yes, I know, easier said than done) but also realize what wonderful opportunities it gives us.
