Living with Razor Sharp Convictions
What a great weekend its been at District Blitz! From helpful seminars and rallies to great moments with students and leaders alike. This weekend and the students have taught me things.
Leadership should be a life of good examples not just telling people what is good and bad. It should be about not only correcting mistakes when they happen but also avoiding them by the way you lead.
I went to a great seminar about convictions and I loved that the speaker talked about how important it is to stand by your Bible based/fact based convictions, but how to approach others with them as well. You shouldn’t hurt people with your convictions, but don’t allow your convictions to be broken down by others.
I love small group times with my church and when the students speak up, its great to hear how they’re impacted and how I might be able to help them.
One of my favorite lessons this week was a reminder: When God says “No” He’s not being mean. He’s working on doing more than you can ask or imagine. I’ve heard this before, but it hit home again.
Another great lesson was about how Jesus is in the fire with us, just like Shadrach, Meshack, and Abednego in the Bible. God has literally shown and proved to us that he’ll be with us in all times, even in a literal fire in this example! (Daniel Chapter 3). By having God with us anywhere it also shows that we are not only one of the many lights in our church but that Christians have the chance to shine brightly in the world.
