Owning My Age

“Wait, you’re like 19 right?”

Nope.

I’m a few years older than that, but I’ll leave it there.

I get this a lot and I’ve learned to take it in stride – I know I look young for my age.

The one thing I have to remember is to make sure I act my real age, and conduct myself as an adult. I want to be responsible, trustworthy, and smart.

I’ve learned to not let it affect me, whether I’m working with high schoolers, hanging out with people my age, or working at a place where the majority of staff are over 45. I’ve realized I bring my own uniqueness to each of these situations, and that God made me to look the way I do at this age, and every age.

So no matter what age you are, own it. Be ready to learn new things about the world, and the innovations that are made every day, but hold fast to your values, and always be searching for the truth.

God has me (and the whole world) in his hands, and I trust His plan and timing as I only continue to get older.

12 Don’t let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith and in purity.
