Invisible Memories

I love being off my phone in certain moments, but I’m trying to find a balance with it because that’s where my camera is nowadays. Plus if I’m going to avoid overdoing it on souvenirs wherever I go I’m going to want pictures to go with my memories. Sometimes I have to live with invisible memories though.

Memories are important to me, its a part of every friendship and family relationship I can think of, and it makes me sad when I don’t have any physical item, photo or writing on it so I’m trying to capitalize more on the last two. This means taking a split second longer at family gatherings to get a group picture, or stopping while I’m with a friend to grab a selfie, its fun to see my pictures show up on my computer or Facebook afterwards.

When I say invisible I’m really referring to memories that don’t exist anywhere except truly in my memory sometimes its sad to me that that’s all I have but then I am often reminded of how much I enjoyed the moments, and often the thought is written down somewhere, but I worry about memories I’ve lost, like any person as they grow up.

It makes me thankful for many elements of technology and how they can help anyone remember more things, document more moments and make people happier by sharing joy

I don’t like it when people are always on their phones all the time, but I’ve been guilty of having my phone out when I shouldn’t. Its hard when there’s so much to find on your phone from what your extended family is up to, to a friends wedding pictures that just got posted, to looking on the internet for the answer to a question that came up in a conversation, to reading an email from a boss with good news about work, or even getting the “memories” notification on facebook. there’s a lot of value, and memories, to be found in phones.  Plus as some of my friends have moved away, and as I plan to as well, having my phone on me is a great way to connect with them!

So have a camera with you everywhere, just make sure each moment is about the experience first and formost – unless you’re literally on a photo shoot, then get some terrific shots!
