The Life of a Praxian – Praxis Wednesday Response

Last night was Praxis Wednesday. It was a module wrap up call. For both small group discussion portions, I found my self in groups where for the first time I was the one furthest along in the program. I enjoyed passing on things I learned and gaining some new inspiration from fresh voices.

It was interesting to hear how new developments in the curriculum are changing the program for the better. Namely, Praxis has introduced Slack to the program which I, at this point, I believe was a great decision. I will also say that I have liked the change because it helps me to communicate more effectively with everyone else at Praxis.

I also like asking the others for their personal website URLs and looking at websites to learn about where others are coming from. Last night we had some extra discussion time and were able to talk about it on the call even, from our educational backgrounds, to where we’re from. Apparently, my Minnesotan accent got a little thick when I was talking about my background #notsorry.

As for day to day life for most of us, the answers are relatively consistent, we work hard where we’re at, have day jobs, are future focused, get our homework done, ask questions, and understand that this process is doing us a great service.

I’ve loved the program even though it’s been different from what I expected, now I can’t imagine my educational path without it. Praxis has helped me understand that the ways I differed from many of my classmates from school are not necessarily bad. In fact, it’s part of the way I break the mold, and I’m happy for that.
