Children’s Ministry

I was part of early childhood ministries, as a childcare assistant for 5 years. I worked with an adult at the time to keep the room clean, and the kids entertained and happy. I helped out about once a month in the 4-5 year olds room and helped keep track of an average of 7 kids.

Also during this time, I spent a week of each summer helping out with the VBS ministry. I usually volunteered to be traveling group leader so I got to get to know the kids and enjoy the different elements of VBS.

Youth Ministry

For the last four years since leaving children’s ministry, I felt called to join junior high ministries as a small group leader. I worked with the same youth pastor I had had back in 8th grade as a student. Now I was helping my own group of middle school girls better understand the material they were learning, and navigate life together as well.

With this group, I also had the opportunity to go on trips, retreats, and service projects. From taking the students to camp for a weekend, to going mini golfing, to raking church members lawns I got to do it all with my students, and learn more responsibility for myself along the way. In addition, I was even able to speak to the entire group of jr. high students and challenged them all to explore what their faith means to them.

With this same group, I’ve had the chance to grow with the other leaders I worked with. I was fortunate enough to work with some good friends of mine as well, and this was a chance to connect with them and encourage each other.

Since leaving junior high ministries in June 2018, I’ve gotten the chance to also volunteer with senior high ministries. I’ve picked up where I left off with a number of kids, who I had as junior high students. In addition, I’m working with the same youth pastor I had as a senior higher! Since joining sr. high ministry I’ve spoken at Sunday school.
