Print a Couple Pictures

If you’re anything like me you like to take photos, digitally, on your phone, and often they stay their more than you’d like or more than you realize. I’ve found that printing at least a couple of favorites over time can be nice, whether for a selective photo book or for hanging up various options over time. We like hanging up and framing a couple photos in general to enjoy as we spend time in our home each day. That and I’ve made a few specific photo books over the years.

I say this all to encourage you to enjoy the moments you’ve captured and so that you can know that sometimes it’s the best souvenir from an occasion, both the photo existing, but also seeing it out and maybe even holding it in your hands at times for a tactile reminder.

I don’t print every photo and I think that’s part of the beauty of it. I print highlights for the most part. That said, I’m trying to be aware of trying to be even more aware of getting a picture with friends or with family whenever I’m with people from holidays. I like having memories even if I don’t print everyone. I admittedly don’t brint nature photos much or like landmarks, but I enjoy capturing them, and maybe as I get better at photography I’ll be able to make great art out of shots.

I don’t just hang photos either, I also keep a photo album or the ones I do print, it’s more fun, sometimes, to look through photos the “old school” way, ya know? That said I have more “permanent” prints, though I also have frames, and such that can be and are switched out about 3 times a year, give a take. I also sometimes have old prints from growing up as well, as it’s fun to relive decades of memories in my home.

You don’t have to buy “premium” prints, though I do recommend at least using some sort of glossy photo paper if you’re doing it at home, though most of the time I’m printing to a big box, store or a pharmacy with a special going on, and I get mostly 4x6s so they’ll fit in my frames and my photo albums.

Oh, and I would also recommend writing a short description on the back, say, the event/location, the date, and everyone in the photo, perhaps. This helps with a, sorting them into photo albums, b helping you and your children if you have them understand family history better and prevents memory loss from being an issue with the photos as you get older. When we cleared out my grandparents home my Dad and his siblings found tons of photos and sometimes it wasn’t easy as someone would hope to figure out the details.

So if you have a few dollars in your pocket, or probably more practically, left over on your budgeting app for your debit card, consider ordering a few photo prints of the last few months or seasons to enjoy at your home.
