When You Succeed at First

Keep improving. And then go try something new.

I got my motorcycle permit recently(!), on the first try. I’m proud of myself – now I can practice this summer and hopefully get my license soon.

I studied up, went over a couple of practice tests, and then drove over to the testing center, paid the fee, and took the test. I walked out with my permit. Feeling rewarded for studying for the first time since college really.

So where’s the lesson you might ask?

For me, at this stage of this process, I’m now realizing I can more easily learn better at the level where I can actually handle a bike as MN law allows for permit riders to ride city streets alone (not on the freeway, nor with passengers) during the day with a helmet required to be worn (to put the rules simply, but NOT exhaustively). This is usually the case for me being a passenger on my Dad’s bike any (with the obvious exception that I’m his passenger in this case).

I’m also realizing that there’s more balance in life than I thought sometimes you get to succeed and sometimes you have to try try try again, and rarely in the same order twice.

I have loved motorcycles since a former neighbor offered my family neighborhood trips. about 15 years ago. So to now have some legal permission to ride one is encouraging

Hopefully, I can ride one soon, and get my license soon as well.
