Millennial Pink Isn’t Dead
It just isn’t “trendy” anymore.
Ever loved a fad, and was sad when you were told it was out of style?
I’ve never been one to be good with staying up to date with the latest trends, at least in terms of fashion, or home decor, and no I’ve never owned a real designer handbag, unless I’m a better thrift store shopper than I thought!
I have found things I liked by looking at trends, from deep florals, to champagne tones, to the beauty of a black and white pallet, to how I curated my pseudo mid-century modern aesthetic.
But to a large extent, I don’t make a point of trying to dress fashionably, I do, however, try to dress stylishly.
I’ve heard this comparison online and I really appreciated it. It’s all about dressing the way you feel you’re best but in a way that looks well-dressed/put together. It’s about intentions, I pick up pieces at thrift store or take advantage of “handy-downs” when I get the chance, but I also love picking up new pieces that will continue to elevate my wardrobe.
But back to aestetics.
I like millennial pink, especially paired with deep navy blue, gold and black. I think it’s chic, pretty, and feminine. I also don’t think there’s anything wrong with liking a popular color, I do however put my own spin on it in some cases. I paired it with my own other favorite colors, and I try to use unique textures, and unique elements/pieces wherever I use it in my life. I also try to not overdo it. What I have bought a lot of recently is black, because it goes with everything; it’s sharp, classy and timeless. We’ll see how this decision fares down the road…
All that said most trends aren’t dead, they’re just not trendy anymore, they’re still ideas, and I would argue some don’t look the best, but there’s probably people who still enjoy them I’m sure and the one I enjoy still is millenial pink even if people think it’s cliche and some magazine article just published an article saying they thought it was dead. #prettyinpink
And yes those chairs sit in my apartment, and the pig’s name is Ham (yes like Toy Story).
